Come make a difference with a socially responsible East Bay architecture, planning and interior design firm! Ratcliff, one of the oldest continuously operating architectural firms in the San Francisco Bay Area, is seeking an Intermediate Interior Designer for its healthcare practice area.
Support senior interior design and project team staff in day-to-day quality assurance and delivery of interiors for large-scale multiple projects, as well as produce small construction and renovation projects with minimal supervision. Collaborate with design teams in meeting project goals in all aspects of interior design and furniture projects from programming and schematic design through construction documents, site observation and punch list. Coordinate with clients, design teams, consultants, contractors, manufacturers and vendors.
Primary responsibilities are as follows: • Collaborate with architectural design teams to understand project goals and develop design concepts from program requirements to shaping the experience of space, its lighting, etc.. • Bear primary responsibility for research, selection and detailed documentation of finish materials, furnishings, and custom casework design. • Maintain and research knowledge of state-of-the-art workplace design and principles of ergonomics to promote productivity, health, and retention of users. • Share responsibility for predicting project interiors staff resource requirements, contribute to work plans and proposals. Manage responsibility for own process according to established budget and fee guidelines. • Participate in an on-going professional development program to stay broadly informed of developments and emerging knowledge in profession. • Share responsibility for project-specific filing, printing and other organizational tasks. • Assist in coordinating in-office product-update opportunities, nurturing vendor relationships, maintaining sample/literature library.
Requirements:
• Active status in at least one of the following associations: NCIDQ; Certified in California (CID); IIDA, Professional Status; AIA; LEED® AP; Member, AAHID; Other professional organizations considered. • Minimum 5-10 years interior architectural design experience with the most recent 5 as a specialist in Healthcare in a multi-disciplinary firm (architecture and interiors at minimum). • Demonstrable interior architecture design abilities balanced with a strong ability to work as part of a team. • Candidate must have strong technical & communication skills & show creativity in problem-solving. • Familiarity with furniture, fabrics and finishes in a healthcare setting, and applicable California flammability guidelines and restrictions. Research and interpret building and fire/life safety codes and ADA. • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2007, Revit, 3D sketch or light rendering capabilities. • Proficiency in MS Excel, Project and Power Point, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator. • Candidate must demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and a high quality work ethic. It is essential for candidate to communicate effectively with management, project managers, consultants and members of design team. • Bachelor’s degree in accredited Architecture or Interior Design program.
